“A fine and compelling film about an important British artist. A fascinating look at a remarkable man.”
Sir Michael Parkinson
“Congratulations on a superb film. I thought your actuality shots of real Lowry people were particularly impressive.”
Edwin Mullins
“A wonderful film. Particularly good to see McKellen trooping around like a Lowry avatar, not presenting to camera so much as looking and helping us to look anew at the Lowry landscape.”
Nigel Planer
“A brilliant example of how one visual medium can enhance another. I loved looking close and deep into the paintings, and discovering that there was so much more to the man and his work than i had ever bothered to imagine.”
Dame Harriet Walter
“… your film is terrific – perfectly judged – witty – revealing… loved the juxtapositions between the paintings and real life crowds – all adds up to a beautifully told story.”
Michael Simpson, The Lowry, Salford
